Very Very Faint Picture, Have Sound

Have schematic; Hitachi Projection model CU 5002, AKA CU4600; TV worked fine, then it took about five minutes for picture to appear, turn tv on next day: very very faint picture (cannot tell content). Excellent sound and will play sound on other channels, but no definable picture. The screen has never flashed when turned on or off or when changing channels. Cannot get to brightness control because it is screen activated. Not sure where to look for this repair, but am familiar with some internal TV servicing, and safety precautions. (Previous post on this set indicated no picture or raster good sound. Closer examination indicated above fault)
Would appreciate any direction you may provide for this repair
