WD52525 Mitsubishi DLP Can't Post

Ok, i have a wd52525 dlp tv(mitsubishi), last night it was fine but today not so much. So here is the deal, I know these things are notorious for popping capacitors so I am a little edgy about making repairs. I turned it on earlier, it took a while for it to finally show a picture, audio is fine though, it played for a while and I could have swore I heard a pop sound and then it had a red lamp indicator light, so I though lamp burned out. I have checked the error code and it says 12 which means nothing is wrong and when I try to turn it on it has green light status and I have audio but the picture never comes up, so I am still wondering if its really the lamp considering the error code is saying everything is fine and its not throwing the lamp light anymore. Any thoughts, thanks

This sounds like a bad lamp to me, pull it out and look at it I'm sure you'll see has been shattered.

Just in case the lamp is still good, never touch the glass of the lamp with your fingers and if it is a bad lamp and you install a new one, never touch the new one with your fingers. Where you touch it, it will cause the glass to heat at a different rate compared to the rest of the lamp (when the set is on) causing the lamp to explode.

The lamp will be in it's own housing.

There is an access door that you'll need to remove and then usually two screws hold the lamp housing in place; once these screws are loosened the housing should pull out.

so what if the lamp is not shattered,, and it does it on another LAMP -- i bought used from ebay,, is there any other way of just checking the lamp with an ohm meter,, or do you have to take of the entire back to check those capacitors?

notrubskwah;.....

I don't think you are around anymore or EVEN interested in what we are doing for you....
Or IF you STILL have the set & need help....Unsure...
But , since others have put in their 2 scents worth , here's my 3rd scent....

This is a 3 year old link that IS STILL active , so go quickly before it vanishes....
Download Service manual here;=>....

This service manual is for your EXACT model;=>.....
(BTW;..EXCELLENT manual)

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OMFZ8E7B

This manual is for Chassis replacement;=>....

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6MKC3A3V

You don't need this one , it's waaay over your head , but I put it here
to impress richpart....

For more help go here & read the thread...

http://www.avsforum.com/...wthread.php?t=979952

If you go to page 22 of the service manual . you'll see the LED indicator
blinking codes...
Check the status LED & lamp LED etc codes & I think you'll see you may
still have a lamp problem....
Since you are "edgy about making repairs" & we have given you waaaay
more info than what you can use , my best advice would be to call a
HONEST , REPUTABLE & TRUSTWORTHY TV shop in your area & get
an estimate & go from there...

GOOD LUCK....Sly.....

Bad ballast maybe?

I am in the process of screwing around with a 46" samsung that someone gave me and was surprised to find a lamp and ballast inside this thing(Never touched a DLP before)

If you ohm out the lamp itself it will show an open because it operates similar to a florescent lamp(neon also) so it could confuse you thinking it would have continuity. If the lamp looks good check the ballast as well.

BTW,
hello again Ron...

ESPECIALLY the genius Gussie....
This thread was started on Oct,27,2010.....
He has not been back since....

Point #2=....
Someone want to tell this clown wannabe tech that just because the lamp "looks good" doesn't mean it IS good....

Re: [Ron.M] WD52525 Mitsubishi DLP [In reply to] Can't Post

Ron,

How do YOU...know the lamp is no good?

If the lamp is not blown up or cracked or visibly discolored.how do YOU tell it's no good?

don't tell me a continuity check, cause it's not a filament that provides the light in that particular case.

I do know this thread is old but could not help commenting on it because of your "way over your head" comment
