Here's a true story, anyone can help me? A lightning storm knocked out our Akai PT4298HD projection TV. The repair man replaced a circuit board. TV worked again, except there was a vertical pink/red line on the screen. He said that during the lightning storm, when the circuit board blew, the CRT did not scan across and burned a vertical line in the tube. True enough (I can see the burnt line in the vertical direction on the old tube). He replaced the CRT with another one, but commented that it was different. He said that AKAI does not make/sell the exact replacement, anymore. So now the TV picture is totally out of convergence especially around the perimeter.....he threw up his hands and basically abandoned the project. (Now this is the good part) My wife (actually now my ex-wife, we were in the middle of a divorce) reported to the insurance company that this TV could not be fixed. She went to Best Buy in early December, secretly picked up a $1,800 TV (paid for by the incurance company) to replace this one, hid it at a friend's house until the divorce was final in late January. I went back to the insurance company to discuss my options on repairing this Akai set in early February; and was told that this claim was closed. This was how I found out about the secretively obtained new TV. So now I am living with an out of focus TV, and I am also fairly broke from the divorce. She is living in a new apartment with a new TV. What I want to do is inexpensively fix the TV I have. More information: The old CRT picture tube (I have it) says "Type P16LXL00HHA" and "Ser. No. A4B459565" on it. I cannot find a company name on it. Can I obtain the correct CRT for this TV? Can I put it in myself? I am handy with this sort of thing, if I apply myself! By the way, I have a divorce Arbitration hearing in early May where I am presenting a variety of costly shenanigans that by ex-wife did. So I have not given up all hope for a fair and equitable settlement in this divorce dispute. Thanks in advance for any help on this!! Signed, "Out of Focus" Bob
