I just recently bought this model myself and am seeing all the anomalies that others are seeing. The vertical lines on large bright color fields. The greenish cast in darker grays (just watch something in black & white). Black comes out as a deep blue or deep purple (you see this especially when you watch a DVD movie in the dark, with a 2.35 aspect ration and the TV set to 16:9 - the bars above and below are bluish). Now, I like the set and have been impressed by some of the things I’ve played through it (“Finding Nemo” DVD, progressive scan w/ component hookup, looks great on it!), but these problems are making me re-think my purchase... So today, to rule out that this is just a problem with my individual set only, I went back to Best Buy to look at the floor model they have. There it was, beautiful HD image, nice colors and... dark blue instead of black and the vertical lines were there. Now the interesting thing is they had a couple other LCD projection TVs too (Panasonic and Mitsubishi, I think) and I noticed that they also display dark blues instead of black and they also have the vertical lines running through large color fields. After noticing that, it became easy to tell which TVs on display were DLP projections and which were LCD – just wait for the image to go black and see the blue cast or look in the bright areas for the vertical lines. All the LCD projections seemed to have it to a greater or lesser degree. It’s just more noticeable on the Zenith. So, unless I am convinced or told or see otherwise, I’m beginning to think that these problems are just endemic of current LCD projection technology. I want to be happy about my $2700 purchase (inc. extended warranty and taxes and etc.), but… I see these problems all the time now when watching my TV – well OK, not all the time, but you know what I mean. It’s just enough of a distraction that it always makes me start doubting my decision to plunk down $2700 for it in the first place and whether I need to get something different…
