ok thanks for your response. I have one quick question, when I do replace the flyback do I need to discharge any of the tubes or is it safe to just disconnect the hv lead from the hv divider/block? thanks for your help

By the time I get the new fly back shipped to me it will be unplugged about a week to a week and 1/2.

You should be alright...
Just to be 100% sure , when you disconnect the flyback lead , stay away from the metal end of the large red wire...
Ground that end to chassis ground (Tuner cover is an excellent location) ...
There most likely won't be a charge left on it after that length of time , but , I have seen instances where they did hold a charge...
Better to be safe than sorry....

Good Luck with your repair.....Smile....

Have a GREAT day & weekend....Sly...
