samsung hcn4226w wont turn on Can't Post

Hi everyone this is my first post.

This is a new area of repair for me my profession is automotive electrical but here goes. Suddenly my 42 inch samsung failed to turn on any more , just a tiny click from the speakers then silence. It's a HCN4226W and I've had the rear cover off and checked fuse where the 120v comes in and it's ok . I don't see a power supply that I recognize (like a home pc) but I did start checking a few spots with my fluke meter and all I see is 26v ac on some of the 14 gauge circuits and no more than 2 or 3 volts dc on some of the ribbon cables. Is this normal ? Is there any common problems with this model that any of you know of ? I'm ready to order parts off the samsung parts website if someone can lead me in a direction.

Thanks in advance if you can help Eric..

My HCN4226W did the same thing right after a convergence problem. Repairman came out and unplugged the blue power leads going to the convergence amp board and the set came on but with only the blue background screen. Once you remove the back cover, it should be on the upper right side and it has two big IC's on it with STK392 040 on them. The blue power leads connect on the left end. Unplug the set, unplug the blue lead, plug the set in and turn on. As for the fix, I just posted a simular problem and still looking for the problem

Replace the whole CG/AMP board, that did it for my set. $70 + shipping from vancebaldwin.com

Re: [Cajun] samsung hcn4226w wont turn on [In reply to] Can't Post

I just received one of these sets, hcn4226w, from a guy that was tired of fixing it. The set does not currently power up at all, no lights, no noise. I checked the fuse near the power cord and it looks good. Are there other components to check? I also tried Cajun's trick of unplugging the power leads to the convergence board and still no power.

I would hate to pay for a new power board (anyone know the part number?) it there is something I can check and replace on the current one.

Thanks.

Does the power LED on the front of the set do anything when you try to turn it on?

The part number for the PCB is BP94-00498A. Vance Baldwin price is $256 plus shipping

There is no light. The lights in the room dim very slightly like the TV is drawing some power but there are no lights or noise at all. The fuse looks good and tested ok with a meter. Are there other fuses?

Trying to troubleshoot a dead set problem over the internet is a waste of time, ours and yours. The board is available. I'd suggest purchasing one if you're interested in repairing the set.

Go to www.cablesnbulbs.com
send a request in for the part number I listed you. This guy can usually get parts a bit cheaper than you could. Good luck!

I'm having the exact same problem.
No power, but the light around the power button does blink. What is this symptom indicative of?

My set is a HCN4226WX/XAA
Any troubleshooting I can do to help better determine the root of the problem?
