sony KP-53v25 Can't Post

Hi,
I have a sony model KP-53v25 and the picture is out of focus on the bottom lefthand side. I've been told that I need a new IC convergence motor and that itll cost around $50-$75. Im pretty new to the TV world but id like to fix this myself if possible. Is this diagnosis correct? and if it is how do i go about fixing it? Thanks for any help.

Sounds like you got the right way to fix this problem, change the convergance Ic's, but with this set the board where they are mounted is a double sided board with SMD's real close to the conections, what this means is it takes some expertise to remove and install the Ic's without damaging the board beyond repair, just got to ask yourrself do you want to risk destroying a $400 to $500 board?
