Can anybody tell me what I might try? Looks like you need a new CRT or new TV.....
Reasons are:...
I can not degauss it completely with my (professional) coil.
Unless it's a dinky little coil you are using ....
Your "proffessional" coil should have taken out the impurity.....
The "Proffessional" coil I use has about 10 times the strength the built in has OR ever will have....
It's not a detached shadow mask, as I can: It takes one helluva an effort to "detach" a shadow mask....
Usually when you have a "detached" shadow mask , the CRT is broken....
Your reasons #1 & #2 are meaningless for this problem....
I suspect that somewhere along the line that that TV was dropped....
What you describe is a "Warped" shadow mask....
It is NOT repairable....
My theory is (ahem...) that when the thermistor blew, a etc, etc....
Nice try....I don't want to embarrass you by blowing big holes in your theory.... ....
Let's just say ...Nice try.... ....
Replaceing the thermistor is a waste of time & money.....
Will NOT solve your problem.......
