If we try to watch SD digital cable or play a DVD through the PS3 or Xbox 360, the TV will flicker once (presumably switching the resolution) and get an odd blue tinge. <br> <br>Essentially the TV cannot properly display 480i. Any clue as to why this might be? Is there a single projector in the back of the TV that displays 480i? While another separate projector handles 1080i? <br>

EDIT: 2nd Question. Can the lens that magnifies the image within the TV move when the TV is jostled? Right now the screen is cutting off roughly a half inch of picture on all sides.

OH!!!!- you have a TOSHIBA- nuff said!. Well you foolish person you will need the original remote to adjust convergence- & frankly- if you can find a reasonable pic- don't change!. If you can find a sucker get rid of the bag of shit before it fails completely!(in my humble opinion-OF COURSE!!!!).

Sweet. Well I adjusted the convergence a long time ago and am sure it's fine.

is DVD direct ok from the DVD player? there may be grey scale adjustment in the service menu to rectify this but if you are not confident about doing this its best to leave it. Cannot the PS3 display higher than 480i?

No, DVD direct from the DVD isn't fine. Very blue. PS3 games can typically only display in 720p. Since my TV can only display 480i or 1080i, it typically scales the resolution down to 480i when we play games.

However some games, (GTA4 for example) are capable of displaying in 1080i, and hence have perfect color. Anything on this TV that plays in SD has a very blue hue to it. I'm beginning to think it's merely the SD Projector in the TV. I've tried many different SD sources and all have the same result. I've tried changing the color balance as well but to no avail.

I suppose repairing the projector isn't a job the user should do?

Oh... Then why the heck would 480i have a blue hue and 1080i have normal coloring? So confused.

Same speakers for a stereo boom box, AM bad, garbles and eats tapes - but FM works great!

Different circuitry is switched in or out.
