13 inch sony cable compatible tv with tuner problem?

I have a 13 " sony that sits to the side of the computer, (it's my "ballgame while wasting my time surfing because a tv tuner card flat sucks" tv). model number kv13tr24. about 6 months ago the tuner would not tune in the stations (direct cable hook-up) picture looked like there was no station present.(problem is on all bands). after about 20 minutes or so the picture and sound would reappear on all stations. because it has a/v baseband inputs, I just stuck an old cable "ready"vcr ahead of it and have been using it as the tuner, until the set warms up (vcr has about 47 channels which is not enough). now the tv will not lock the channels in at all for a couple of hours, and then it's only the channels above 47 or 48?????????I haven't cracked open the case yet, and don't have a schematic. probably going to check it visually this weekend, just wondered if anyone had seen this before. the set still has a great pic. thx
