1984 14" sharp md#14j15c blows fuse Can't Post

every time i turn on this tv it blows the fuse .removed posistor and still blows fuse HOT is okay removed fly back and fuse doesn,t blow.was told flyback is probably bad and they no longer make that flyback.is there a replacement flyback (main component suppliers can,t crossreference it in london ont) so is the problem the flyback and is this tv worth fixing if a flyback is available.i am only charging the person for parts (personal favor)if it can be repaired. or is it time for another tv.i offered him a used 19" for 45.00 but he says size is an issue for where he wants to place it.

You might try www.dalbani.com. They have a limited selection of Sharp flybacks listed in their catalog but I suspect that with a set that old, you have got a problem finding one. Good Luck

Hi!I did some more testing and found the SCR and it was shorted.replaced it put in new fuse .this time when i turned it on the fuse blew again and the HOT went this time.do you still think it,s the flyback?could the voltage regulator have anything to do with this problem?can,t check for voltages cause there is no power. not sure how to check it for any shorts.any ideas! Thanks!

It is probably the flyback. You have already spent more time and money than a set this size and age is worth.

most of sharp tv faced fuse blow, there are note about service the sharp tv from SAM web site your should search.they teach how to used 60watt,bulb to replace the fuse.but not sure success or not.normally fuse blow cause by FBT burns and it also burns the scr ( STRxxxx)power regulator.need to replace both.you should try HR DIEMEN maybe they have spare.
