27" Sharp Picture Problem Can't Post

All right... I'm sure everyone knows what happens when non-magnetically shielded speakers are placed next to a television screen, right? A little smudge of black/blue appears at the sides. Well... My TV seems to have that problem when there are NOT any speakers near the thing. I have no idea what to do here... The smudges are in the lower right and upper left hand spots on the screen and increase/decrease in size whenever I move the entire set. ...anyone? Thanks much in advanced.

Have a look at this page:
http://www.bithose.com/serfaq/REPAIR/F_tvfaq1.html#TVFAQ_014site
and go to item 18.2. Try moving the tv away from everthing, as even a VCR can cause purity problems. I have heard that you can use an electric drill for degaussing (the web page mentions a weller soldering gun). Also, there may be problem in the automatic degaussing circuit in the TV (thermistor is a commonproblem).

Yes, check the Degaussing circuit. Very possible... Sometime you have to bite it and throw the thing away though...BUT Give it your best shot first. Try the moving thing like alan said first..and then the Circuit next. (This was just for confirmation purposes alan...you know...to confirm for the guy that you are on track) Wink
