32" Sharp won't turn on	Can't Post

my 32" sharp tv seemed to turn off by itself the other night. now when i press the power on the front of the set it makes about 5 or 6 clicks/chirps then one louder click and nothing else (no picture at all). if i press the power again nothing happens at all. i have to unplug and replug it in to get it to make those sounds again. any help? thanx

I suspect a shorted HOT. Model #? Try the poor man's high voltage test... hold your hairy arm near the screen when you turn the set on. Are you arm hairs excited? ^_^

Seriously, the high voltage will create a static charge on and around the front of the picture tube... this explains why your screen attracts so much dust!
