"50 RCA PFR100WR Projection TV Trouble Can't Post

My dad has had this 25 year old tv since new. Recently, the picture has become completely distorted with black lines everywhere that move around the screen. This TV has preformed flawlessly, and except for one part it needed about 10 years ago- has been perfect. I really don't want to go through the trouble of buying a new set. Does anyone know how big of fix it would be? Thanks,

John

Here at the shop we use a little saying goes like this "TV's age like cats " this means you have a 25 year old cat.

You could try replacing every capacitor, resistor and transistor that had become weak because of the age of the set, however what sound like your main problem may be the CRT's, this part if this set was held to industery standerads stoped being produced in 1986. In short even if part are avalible this set will cost around $1800.00 or more to fix, then Wala you still have a 25 year old set
