We're seeing a rash of these problems. There are multiple causes... mostly related to the automatic CRT bias circuits employed (very touchy). These sets are modular replacement repairs. Usually it's the LSP (Large Signal Panel), sometimes it's the SSM (Small Signal Module), sometimes it's as simple as adjusting the screen controls. We've also seen a few bad CRT boards... usually the green.

Additional info: if this is the symptom I'm thinking of, the set will turn on, and stay on. High voltage will be present, and in most cases sound will be present. Experienced technicians can confirm the problem by cranking the screen controls... you should see a blank raster with retrace (color, of course, dependent upon the control you "crank" :) Don't forget to adjust purity... lol.

I recommend calling a Philips authorized service center... they are the only ones who have access to the CD-ROM based service literature, and online support provided by Philips.
