Auto programming failure on Pioneer Plasma Can't Post

I have a Pioneer PDP4360HD that came with the Pioneer PDP R06U media box and regular cable from Charter Communications. The problem I am having is that when I try to program my TV it errors out. What I experience is that I go to the Auto Channel Preset option and start watching the progress bar on the screen. At about 6:20 (mm:ss) in to the operation the menu disappears and the TV screen goes back to the last channel I was watching before I went to the menu to attempt the auto channel preset.
It did used to work. When I had Covington cable, before they were purchased by Charter, the operation would take about 15 minutes and once it completed the menu would back up on so you could see the mapped channels. The cool thing about it was that it would map the QAM channels.
My initial thoughts are that this is an older box and maybe 'freaks out' when it scans the QAM / NTSC channels that are scrambled. Other than that I have no idea why it can't program correctly.
I reported this problem about a year ago and the warranty paid to have the board in the media receiver replaced, unfortunately this had no effect at all.
Maybe there is a firmware update? Any ideas are welcome as at this moment it has not completed an auto program successfully which means I am stuck without any QAM channels to watch (no HD :( ).

No "manual" tuning, add/erase, Favorites lists, etc.?

Unfortunately not. That is one of the things I dislike about this model.

I have the ability to add whole channels using scrolling numbers in their interface but that is it. I can't assign sub/fractional channels (no QAM assignments Unsure ) and you can't manually delete channels which sucks because it has up to channel 138 available using channel +/- but I only have reception for up to channel 83.

Some more information. I have sent an email to Pioneer asking them for help. Below is that conversation:

Thank you for your response. I had Charter Communications, my cable company, come out and check the line. They made sure the signal strength to the TV was more than adequate. I am not using CableCard. The TV has been plugged into a 1500 watt UPS since I purchased it.
I honestly think it has something to do with the TV's ability to recognize the digital channels using ATSC & QAM tunner. Charter has been "messing around" with its line up very frequently including changing channel orders and scrambling certain channels in different ways in their digital lineup. At one point I was even receiving my neighbors On Demand channels. I believe when the TV starts to scan through these channels using the ATSC / QAM tuner it encounters something unexpected and errors. Now that I have had the firmware updated with the correction for the new daylight saving time settings it consistently errors out at 6 minutes 20 seconds into the scan.
I had the main board in the Media Receiver (PDP-R06U) replaced when this problem occurred about a year and a half ago. Replacing this did not fix the problem then, I doubt replacing it again would do anything.
If you have any other suggestions recommendations please let me know. Is there a log file I can see using the Admin view or anything else that would help me retrieve information that might be usefull in diagnosing the source of the problem? I am a computer programmer and used to work in computer hardware, I have no problems digging around in the TV's advanced settings or even in the hardware if I have a little direction.

Please advice,
-Igor

Make sure your cable line is connected to antenna A. Also, if there is a cable card in the media box remove it and try with out it. No firmware available for this reported problem and its possible that the media box will need repairs.
Thank You,

I think this might have depended on the time of day but I have no idea why it would succeed one time and fail the very next. I reported this problem and the warranty paid to have the board in the media receiver replaced, unfortunately this had no effect at all.
Recently I had the firmware updated to correct for the new daylight savings time, now the auto programming fails consistently.
My initial thoughts are that this is an older box and maybe 'freaks out' when it scans the QAM / NTSC channels that are scrambled. Other than that I have no idea why it can't program correctly.
Maybe there is a firmware update? Any help would be appreciated.

First, the purchase and delivery experience:
I purchased the pdp-5010fd directly from amazon.com, and I could not have been happier with the experience. I ordered it online on Saturday evening, and the local delivery company called me on Wednesday to arrange for a delivery time on Thursday morning. The television was not supposed to have arrived until the following week.
When the television arrived, two men carried it in, uncrated it, and set it on my stand. All told it took 10 minutes tops. The delivery men were very courteous and waited around for me to inspect the television for breakage or defect but not for me to turn it on and make sure it worked.
I saved hundreds over purchasing this television locally, and I would totally make another purchase of this expense again from amazon.com.

The television itself:
In a word, outstanding! I absolutely love this television. I expected the hd channels to look awesome, and they are (I cannot wait until football this fall), but for me the
...
pleasant surprise is that 480p content from my sony es dvd player looks very good, also, through component video. I had read that this television did a good job of upconverting content 480i/480p content, but it is much better than I expected. You will not be disappointed in the performance of this television. Ours is in the living room, which is quite bright during the day, as a lot of sunlight comes in, and it still looks great. I also have no issue with the amount of reflection on the screen (it is less than the old 31" CRT television that it replaced).
