Bush mk92nw won't respond to remote Can't Post

Hi all,

Have a bit of a problem with a Bush mk92nw. The tv turns on and works fine, i can change channels/volume etc via the set, but when trying to change something via the remote, nothing works.

When i press a button on the remote, the tv responds like it normally does with A blue light flash on the tv, but thats it, it does not do what you tell it to when using the remote.

Anyone know what the problem could be?

Thanks in advance.

Start, as always, with fresh batteries.

Hi thanks for the reply.

Not the batteries, the tv recognizes when i press a button, but for some reason it does not execute what i want it to do.

When i press a button, the tv's blue light flashes, which it indicates the signal from the remote to the tv is working, but for some reason nothing happens after that.

I'm presuming the remote IS the ORIGINAL that came with the TV...
Correct ???

I'm not the slightest bit familiar with "Bush" TVs , just Presidents...
The "Blue" LED flashing tells me that the Micro IS getting the pulses from the remote...
They may not be the right pulses transmitted by the remote but close enough for the Micro to respond...
Your remote could still be bad...Unsure...
And more seriously , the Micro could be bad....Unsure...
Do you have a "menu" button on the set ???
IF so , see what's in the set-up section...
In particular, Child Lock , Parental Control (NOT the Viewing Ratings type) , or anything that suggests a disabling of the remote...

Try the obvious first. Make sure that the SOURCE of input is on TV.

mel;.....

With ALL due respect;...
NO matter WHAT input the TV is on , the remote SHOULD function....
He SHOULD be able to get the menu up , SHOULD be able to adjust the sound , pix , etc...
His problem appears to be that the Micro , for whatever reason , is not doing what it is asked to do...
I have seen in the past (On analog TVs) remotes activate the LEDs & do nothing else due to a pulse problem from the remote...
I'm NOT saying that's his problem here...
There may be other causes for this...
But , IF his remote IS OK , he should get some kind of response from the TV...
Best thing to try would be another known GOOD remote FOR this TV...

Have a GREAT day....Sly,,,

Hi Ron, thanks for the reply.

The remote is the original.

I went into the menu via the button on the set. Checked the various things it could be that are preventing the remote from working (parental control, channel locks etc etc) and found nothing to suggest that the remote should be blocked, as all the boxes were left unchecked.

It's also worth mentioning, that once i enter the menu via the set, i can navigate myself round the menu using the remote, but as soon as i exit the menu the tv instantly refuses to cooperate again!!!! I press a button, and the light flashes, but nothing happens.

daveb;....

My suspicions are raised about the remote being the problem...
Even tho it seems to be functioning after you enter the menu...
Do you know someone that can borrow you a "generic" programable remote ???
We somehow need to nail down which is causing this problem...
TV or Remote ???
I'm not about ready to ask you to buy another original or "generic" remote only to find that that is not your problem..

Lets try this;....
Enter menu on the set...
Then see if you can adjust the sound & change channels using the remote...
When changing the channels , try direct access (Using numbers) & Chan up & Chan down...
Please post results...

Not sure if i can find a replacement remote right now, I'll ask around and see what i can find.

As for the things you told me to do:

When i enter the menu via the set, i can adjust the volume both up and down using the volume control on the remote (the volume control on the remote does not work without the menu on). The channel up & down button does not work with the menu, neither does trying to change the channel using just the numbers.

daveb;....

I HATE to keep making wild guesses here , but that's all I can do till we get a handle on what's going on...
There's the possibility that from the new info you posted , you may have a corrupted eprom IC...
Another programable generic remote may give us an answer...
Did you have any thunderstorms in your area recently ???
Lightning strikes ???
Doesn't have to be that close to your home ....
Did you have a power surge or interruptions ????

Might be worth spending the 8.95 for the One for all URC2589 universal remote listed on ukEbay just to eliminate the remote as the problem. He can download the codes from the All in one web site.

cheers guys for the comments. Ron, no powercut mate, or anything like that. There has been a lot of rain here in london for the past week or so but this problem begun before all that, about 2-3 weeks ago.

Mel, i have tried using a One for all URC-7544 universal remote and i get exactly the same results as i do with the original remote.

That about says it all !!!!
It looks like it could be a corrupted eprom , but without a service or instruction manual , it's anybodys guess...
I'd suggest you take it to an honest , reputable & authorized Bush TV servicer...

GOOD LUCK !!!!...Smile....

Bush brand tv's are grey imports into the UK and could have any chassis inside so you need to know the manufacturer to program your universal remote. try vestel or daewoo code numbers or if you have sky tv try the magic search button to program into your tv.

The remote that I recommended has Bush codes. If we had the chassis number, we might be able to trace it back to a similar name brand TV to find a servce manua.

Auto scan for channels.
The remote will then have channels to go up and down.
And the remote will now have reason to perform volume up or down.

If you haven't noticed , he CAN change channels AT the set...
IF there were NO channels scanned into memory , he'd have NO channels to go up or down to...
So he IS getting channels...
His remote is NOT functioning for whatever reason....

His volume DOES work , but , ONLY when he is in the menu...

Thanks for your input , but , as you can see , he has a VERY WEIRD problem....
