Can I remove vcr, cable box, etc. controller?

2002 32" G.E. Model # 316T740 Chassis no. CTC203CA10. Anyone know if I can remove the module that allows t.v. to be controlled by vcr, cable box, etc? I seem to have a problem with it and was hoping it could be removed or bypassed. A wiring schematic would be a great help. Thanks!
