Changing channels on its own?

Hi. I have an Apex 55 inch widescreen tv(model GB55HD09W). I've had it almost a year now and its worked great...until last night. All of a sudden the TV powers itself on and just continually changes channels every second. At first I figured the batteries in the remote might be going dead, so I replaced them and that didnt work. I unplugged the TV last night to see if anything would reset, and it did the same thing when I plugged it back in this morning(powered up on its own, and started flipping channels). The TV has a little LED that lights up green when the TV is on, now the light just flashes on and off when the TV is on. I relize im probably going to have to get it fixed, but I was just curious about what might cause this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
