Converting a tv from NTSC to PAL

I just out of curiosity, I'm wondering if it is possible to convert an old NTSC colour tv to receive PAL broadcast. I'm able to view PAL channels on it if I adjust the vertical hold and if I adjust the vertical size to a proper ratio. I'm not able to hear sound because NTSC has a 4.5MHz bandwith while PAL B/G has 5.5. The images are also in black and white, Would I be able to expand the bandwith in order to hear sound? I guess to make it receive in colour would be more dificult, but is it possible?
