Cracked Screen-Toshiba 50H82

I'm a total newbie to this forum...thanks for any help you can offer.
I have a 1 year old Toshiba 50H82. My son hit it with a baseball and cracked both the plexiglass shield and the screen inself  . I'm very handy with electronics (just finished building a computer) and was wondering if I can fix this myself. I found a website that appears to sell the screen (although they list separate entries for a "lenticular" and "fresnel" sheets) as well as the screen protector. Is repair possible and, if so, what is involved. Thanks.
