D52w20 flyback replacement

D52w20 flyback replacement	Can't Post

I have a d52w20 with ITC222 that is whistling loud. It does seem the sound it coming from the flyback. However I have read the service guide and it leans toward the coild which is right near it. The picture and everything seems fine but i have turned it off to prevent further damage.
Could anyone advise a way to test either of them as I can't find it in the manual?

Forgot to mention so far when it is first turned on it is fine for about 5-10 minutes then the noise starts.

I roll up a piece of typing paper to about a 1 inch coil and listen thru it to help focus to the source. If it is the coil, sometimes spraying it with clear arcrilyc sray will solve the problem.

Check the deflection board for cold solder. Very common problem, and will lead to other problems.

Fellers....

When you are done with that , don't forget to resolder ALL the pins on the flyback....
That model & chassis is notorious for getting bad flyback connections that cause the convergence to go out & I suspect other delightful symptoms also....

Thanks all for the help. I had to put the board back in and isolate the noise since the coil and transformer are right next to each other. It was actually the horizontal coil. I put a couple drops of super glue on it and it seems fine now. I do have one on order though.

I can't emphasize enough to resolder the flyback connections...
It's almost a given that you will have a problem with them...
