Diagonal lines on Samsung CRT

Diagonal lines on Samsung CRT	Can't Post

I have a 25 inch Samsung Flat screen. The TV is about 2 years old. It has thin white diagonal lines in the picture. The lines only show up on light colored backgrounds. They move down the screen and make it look like it is raining in the picture. This TV is used primarily with my son's XBox and I think the game system may have caused the problem. He doesn't always shut the game off when it is not in use. The lines are still present even though the game system is no longer connected to the TV. Any help or advice will be appreciated.

can you post a picture of the fault please.it may be retrace lines showing (minor) or something else

Thanks for the reply, Chris. I have attached a picture. You should be able to see a white streak that passes through the letter "W" in the word woman. A series of these streaks are visible, in parallel lines about 2 inches apart, all the way across the screen. The streaks appear to move from the top of the screen to the bottom, making it look as if it is raining.
(The wide, dark band across the top of the screen is from taking the picture. It was not present on the TV screen)

if the lines are there with nothing else connected to the tv,and on any input,my guess is a fault is in the video decoder section.you need a local expert really in that case.

Thanks, Chris. The lines do not appear on the "blue screen" when I change the channel to input. But, I have not tried it while watching a DVD. The lines are present with and without the TIVO and XBox connected. I appreciate your suggestions. Maybe it's time for a new TV.

if its not there on A/V input then it may not be the tv at all.are you on cable or satellite.if so try another tv first to see if its the box

We have cable, with no box, and there are no lines on the other TV if I attach it to the same cable. I was hoping it was a simple fix. But, I think I'll just live with it, or get a new TV. It would cost at least half the price of the TV to have it looked at. Thanks for your advice.
