Different revision number on t-con board Can't Post

Hi everybody. I have an RCA led58g45rq LED TV, which is about 8 months old. All of a sudden, the picture changed from normal to washed out black and white. I looked at pictures of different TV failures and mine looked identical to pictures of failed t-con boards. My TV came with t-con board V580DK2-PS1 ver 5.1. When searching for a replacement, everything I found said that this could use a couple of different t-con boards, but one of them was V580DK2-PS1 ver 3.6 or something like that, and I couldn't find a ver 5.1 anywhere. So, I ordered the ver 3 board. When I installed it, the color was fixed but there were lines that stretched across the panel that, to me, looked like the refresh timing was off. I put the original t-con board back in and it worked fine, until the TV warms up, then it goes back to washed out black and white. Did I get a defective t-con board in the mail, or am I wrong for using a board with an older version number? Thanks.

I didn't register the TV and I don't have the receipt anymore. Are there other options for making a warranty claim?

IF you paid for it with a credit card ... I know, you paid with cash.
Certain cards will double the length of your warranty.

Also, if asked nicely many merchants can search through a limited number of receipts (first week of January --- NOT "I think it was sometime during a winter in the 2000's")[I know, you got it as a gift.]
I give up. Angelic

I didn't pay with cash, but I did use a 3rd party in-store credit program that K-Mart was (is?) promoting. Would those records count?

Should I be upfront with the repair shop that I tried replacing the t-con board? Or will they just automatically void the warranty? They will probably notice that I have worked on the TV due to small things like tape I had to remove to be able to move the wires around.
