Emerson TV - Horizontal White Line	Can't Post

Hello everyone,

Here is the run down of my problem; my TV when turned on will only display a horizontal white line in the center of the screen, but the sound still works fine. It's a Emerson - TS2586D.

Up until recently I could "fix" the problem but giving it a light whapping (please don't hate me). But this no longer works.

Just to let everyone know I know jack-squat about TV repair, but I do know my way around a soldering gun and a pair of pliers. I do not have $100+ to shell out for repairs, but I am willing to ether fix my TV or blow it (and myself) up trying.

resolder pins on vertical ic that should do it

It is probably a 7 or 13 pin IC that is mounted vertically against a heat sink. Do NOT try to solder it with a soldering gun. Use a 25 watt soldering iron. The pins are close together and require some finesse to ensure that you do not form a solder bridge between them. with the tv on tap on pc board with screwdriver handle you should find it easily

Hurra! nevermind that last post of mine. There are only a few heatsinks and the solder on one was orangeish, resoldered that and bingo TV works like new, well almost new there is a CH SET stuck at the top of the TV. Any advise on how to get ride of that?
