Got Free 52" Magnavox Projection Screen TV, Color is messed up!

Hi everyone,
I just got a free 52" Magnavox Projection Screen TV. It appears to be made in 1991 with a model number either R or PM8550-A102 (cant tell because the first letter is scratched up). When the unit is turned on, there is a picture, but the colors look like crap. Its very redish at times, but in general there seems to be a problem with every color. The objects on the screen are visible, but very uncomfortable to watch, because its so messed up. I have ZERO experience fixing television sets, and have almost no knowledge of projection screen TVs. What could be the problem? And we are considering having it looked at by a professional repair man, would it be worth it?

edit: I guess I should add that its not a color issue that can fixed from the on screen menu, its beyond that.
