All of a sudden the screen kinda flashed and the picture went to an hourglass shape, with some distortion. The outsides of the picture are black, is this an easy problem to fix, is there any way to degauss the screen or is this a big problem??? Please help

A model number would help but it seems to me that the last RCA that I worked on with this sympton turned out to be a bad solder joint at a diode in the B+ to the pincushion circuit. You might also want to check out www.FreeFlatScreens.com/?r=10948674 for an opportunity to earn a free replacement for this set with a little effort on your part.
