Harsper HP-5500V Black horizontal lines Can't Post

There are approx. 30 horizontal black lines appearing on about 1/6th of the screen, from the middle up. Each time a black line (2 pixels high) and a working line (also 2 pixels wide).

It is not a problem with the screen (pixels) itself, but with the controlling electronics, because when I change the resolution, different lines turn black.

Has anybody seen this problem before and if so, do you know the probable cause?
Harsper is out of business so no support there...

Any suggestions are welcome!
Christopher

Chris, as an old time repair man, I can only say that I can bet that your set is made in China,Bangldesh,Saigon,or take your pick! At last count, and it is still growing, there are 77 different brands of TVs on the market and you can't get parts or schematics for 70 of these sets! It is BUYER BEWARE TIME!

Chris: Is this a plasma set? sounds like it could be. If so You either have a problem with the upper-scan drive circuit board or a bad panel itself, most plasma's have an upper and lower drive panel, located on the left side of the set with the back removed.look very closely at the board for pin holes in the ic's body and check the board for bad solder joints, they run hot and cause these problems.

It is indeed a plasma screen. I guess I'll have to open it up and have a closer look.

Thanks for your feedback.
