Horizontal line across techwood tv Can't Post

Hi, I have a techwood 28RF1 CRT widescreen that appears to have no vertical deflection.

When I got the tv, there was no picture or sound, but after turning up the screen control a litttle, there was a feint bluey purple line across the screen just up from the middle. When I turned it up a little more, this line turned white.

This led me to think of the vertical deflection IC, however there is no sound and when I connect a dvd with plain coloured scenes to the tv, this line stays the same colour. Previous tv's that i have had with vertical deflection problems, changed colour, and produced sound.

Could there be a problem with the Jungle IC?

Any help much apprieciated,

Oliver

it maybe the micro has muted the sound because there is no picture. check for low voltage on the vertical ic normally about 25volts. this is usually derived from the flyback transformer via a diode and low value resistor.it would be very rare for the jungle ic to cause vertical scan collapse.

It is probably a power supply problem. Look for a B+ source that is common to both the vertical deflection circuit and the sound circuit.

I have measured the voltage on the flyback transformer pin that has 60v next to it and there was no voltage there.

Do not go by what it says there, it may be 60V AC or PP but that its 60V DC is unlikely. If the vertical chip is made by Philips it will have protection built in, that will mute the TV both sound and vision so expecting something like you used to have on older sets is not on.
