Horizontal line across the middle of screen Can't Post

It's a Sears Canada 19" tv (1989) manufactured by Sanyo. Don't know if this will help but the model no. is C539-14629. Every once in a while the picture would become a line across the center of the screen, a little tap on the side of the t.v. and the regular picture would appear. This has happened in the past. It became increasingly worse to the point that 'tapping' the t.v. didn't work any more and it's now just a line across. Any suggestions?

The problem will be in the vertical deflection section.
Sounds like a bad solder connection of one of the components.
Unless you are handy in electronics you should take it to the repair shop.

Thanks Alan, I'll give it a shot.
