IR board replacement remotes dont work

I bought a universal remote when I though my first remote stopped working but the new (Logitech harmony 650) doesn't work either. I think all I need to do is replace the IR board in the TV but should I replace the logic main board as well? This is what the seller said on ebay for the IR board, I have a Sanyo PDP42XR9DA TV I have pulled the IR board out and cleaned it but nothing changed. I know the new universal remote works as my blue ray player and the uni remote are working. My first remote was from ebay, a "Superior 4in1" programmed for me and worked well for 13 months I tried new batteries, going right up to the TV sensor for the remote and cleaning the ir sensor in the TV.
