Is my Hitachi 36 inch crt tv landfill? Can't Post

Unsure My C36WF 830N crt tv recently blew a ceramic disk capacitor (470 pF, 2KV) I replaced this and all was well for 2 days...and then it went again (still a picture..but faded). Diagnosing tv faults is not my forte, but I'm happy to replace components that are obviously burnt out. Thinking there must be more life in it yet I sent it off to a professional repair company and they have diagnosed 2 more components that need replacing(a transistor and transformer) (part numbers L380161 and PC51401 as I assume JAJ00129R is the capacitor). I have been told that these parts are no longer available and they therefore couldn't repair the tv. Can this be true on a worldwide scale?
It just seems to be a damned shame to throw away a decent crt as to my mind they give a far better picture than the modern lcd / plasma replacements. Is there a website out there which might list/ sell these parts (my dogpile/ google search was unsuccessful). Failing that...does anyone want a bloody large tv for spares as I cannot face the landfill route? ..c..cheers pete

what do you mean by faded? loss of contrast or brightness? first check it has not just lost its memory and turned the contrast down to minimum in the menus then post back here.

I didn't really investigate the nature of the picture as I heard the capacitor fizz (I was sitting at my pc at the time)...and then just walked over and switched it off fearing that if I left it on I might cause further damage to the set. In the few seconds I was aware of the picture I seem to remember the picture looked dimmer and of reduced contrast...nevertheless there was still a picture. The day previous I was unable to get the surround sound to work, but I didn't persevere with this as the centre channel and tv set side channels were working and that was enough for me (at least enough for my partner as it meant I could clear up a huge amount of space by getting it off the living room floor where it had been for a few weeks). I'm now wondering if it was the audio side of things that have gone awry and led to the damage..cheers..pete

(still wondering if there is a a cat in hell's chance of getting the errant components!)
