KDL 32L5000 Remote does not work	Can't Post

I have a Sony TV Model # KDL 32L5000. The remote all of a sudden stopped working. I have tried multiple universal remotes and nothing seems to work except the buttons on the side of the TV. I took the board with the IR receiver on it out of the TV( board # 1-857-331-21 H2 Board). Does anyone know how i could test the board to see if the IR receiver is bad. Or if there is a way to find the part number of the IR and I will replace that instead of replacing the whole board.

Check if the original remote is working properly. Use the camera function of your phone. Push a button, you should see a flash on the screen of your camera.

I have done that and the remote is fine. That is why i was going to see if i could just re solder another IR on the board, I just don't know where to get an IR like that one without a part number.

I've not worked on this model , but , maybe , I can be of some help...

Most IR recievers have 3 pins...
Yours has 4 pins (IRM9100) , 2 of which appear to be connected together...
One is for B+ (Usually about 5 vdc) , one is for the output to the Microprocessor (Usually LESS than 5 vdc) & the 3rd is ground...
Check for B+ on one of the pins...
With the set on , have your meter (DVM on DC volts) hooked up to the other pin (NOT the ground pin) & hit any button on the remote...
You should see a voltage swing as you press on the button & stop when you release the button...
IF that happens , chances are that the IR reciever IS OK....
Getting a part number for just the IR reciever may be a problem...
Your best bet & easiest way is most likely to get the whole board....
(ShopJimmy has it listed for $19.83 but is out of stock.)

IF you insist on just getting the IR reciever (OR it actually checks bad) , the ONLY way to get that number would be to get the "Service Manual"...
But , I have to warn you that the service manuals for the new sets (LCD,LED & Plasma TVs) are verrrry skimpy with basic part numbers & some do NOT even have schematics....
So it will be a crap shoot if you get the manual & expect the part number...

Remember this;...
IF the IR IS putting out a pulse when you press a button on the remote , chances are that it's OK....
You most likely will have other problems that I can NOT help you with as I do NOT work on LED, LCD or Plasma TVs...SORRY.... Unsure

IF you have a small or no voltage swing then the chances are that the IR reciever is bad...

Thanks you so much for the advice. I'm going to not even hassle with checking the IR to see if it works. Ill go the easy route you suggested and just buy the board from shop-jimmy that is the exact same model for $24.95.

I have ran into a little problem. I have tried to buy from shopjimmy.com but i am not a certified technician. Is there another way to go about buying this board?

You NEED to determine IF the IR reciever IS working OR NOT....
Otherwise IF the IR reciever is GOOD & you order & install the new board , you will have the SAME problem & wasted $25.00 + s&h....
