LG - led lights visable

my LG tv screen recently went black and I've replaced the LED's which has restored the picture. However I can clearly see the LED array showing through the screen, it's as if they are too bright (the plastic lenses are all in place). However I've turned down the backlight but can still see them.
I ordered the correct replacements (as far as I know)...is it possible I put the light filters (screens) in the wrong way round when I rebuilt the TV and would that cause this problem or is it more likely I've been supplied with the wrong LED's
