Possibly one or more defective LED bulbs due to the set being shipped from the factory with the back light intensity at 100% and the customer never lowered the setting because the picture looked so nice.

Hi jts1957, thanks for the reply. How do I gain access to these LED's? I hope it's something that simple. I haven't yet searched for a service manual for this set. I guess that will be my next task.
EDIT: I just downloaded the service manual. Very interesting.

Hi jts1957, are you pulling my leg? I've been through the service manual and I cannot find any such LED's.

Disassemble the LCD panel.
They will make themselves known.

Re: [jts1957] LG 32LN530B not coming on. Just a red glow lamp below the screen [In reply to] Can't Post

Blush Well, I have been involved in electronics since I got my Ham Radio license in 1956, and all the way to being an electronics maintenance manager at a large daily newspaper, but I have never made such a silly mistake as just now. (Except for my experience with tube sets in the early sixties, I haven't messed with TV's at all) (Maybe my age is creeping up on me)

Bottom line... I wasn't turning it on. I don't have a remote so I was trying to use the manual buttons on the back. Only problem is, I was pushing the label not the actual button.

Now down to the actual symptom. It turns on fine and I ran it for about an hour and then it died, like a power failure. That's what the original owner told me when he gave it to me. The power hadn't failed. I still had a red glow lamp below the screen.

Should I start a new thread for this problem?

Thanks, Jim

Until the 'power failure' occurs I assume you have control over turning the set On-Off (I presume the "red glow lamp" (aka Power indicator) turns On-Off/changes color, etc. as it should), AND set has video AND set has audio.

"Power failure", to me, means the same conditions as having the line cord disconnected... No life whatsoever. So, since you say the 'red glow lamp' is still present, is audio or video present too during your power failure?

No.

Yes, I had full control. I even let it set up the automatic station selections and everything.

I guess "Power Failure" is the wrong term to use, but there was no audio or video and the screen went instantly black. I haven't been able to get it to come back on yet, and the "Power Indicator" is slowly blinking red. I unplugged it and waited about 15 seconds and when I plugged it back in it came back to the same way it was. Slowly blinking red power indicator.
P.S. Does this set have software that can be updated?

I'm still gonna lean towards LED(s). Could also be a bad connection where strips attach. The LEDs are wired in series and once one goes out, turns all LEDs off. Some sets lose video and sound ... some sets keep playing sound and have video when flashlight is held close to the screen.

IF set eventually restarts, check back light control setting(s). You can lower if at maximum and see if set stays on longer, but the damage is done.

Did you find the EXACT service literature or just a different model with same chassis number?

http://www.lg.com/...-product/lg-32LN530B Be sure it has cure for your symptom listed & is a later version than what's installed currently.

Well... I left it plugged in all day and tried to turn it on from time to time, but so far it has not come on. It just sat there with the blinking red power indicator.

I won't be able to work on it again until at least Monday since my in-laws will be in town throughout the weekend. At that point, I'll open it up and check the LED's.

Have a good weekend jts1957, and thanks for your help. Regards, Jim
