Tank,
The value should be the same.I do not think it will work properly.A rule of thumb I use is, if it's 1 to 5 % of a difference in the original value I would take the chance, but only if I had the part at my fingertips.

I would not order the incorrect value.Look a little further,I am sure you should find it somewhere (MCM?)
Maybe the circuit would allow that large of a tolerance.I do not know because I cannot see it on a schematic.

JT would probably have the answer.

I'd continue looking. DigiKey, Mouser & MCM Electronics should have the correct cap (you may have to pay a premium for small order).Cool
It will work with the 22ufd, but always best to put back in what you take out, in my opinion.

Waal-pro b these days is tv repair as we knew it is finished-so we have vets who have spent 30 years or so learning trade myself incl- now these guys (M.I.) look for sumpin to do to make their existence worthwhile- so this webby thing is something they can let others know they are still worthwhile. As to patching in cap- was sompin that arose in old valve days- I have never used it- now we have ESR meters- before ESR just simply used to replace any suspect cap with new- but newer power supplies etc are hard on caps esp electros- & some electros are not up to standard anyway- apart from that electros are finite lifetime comp being electro- chemical devices. Merry New Year to All.

Also, don't let Ron get to you Gus.

Time for you & I to get a few things straight....

1st off , a few direct quotes from the "horses" mouth (Gus67)==>....

Quote
I am an Electronics tech, but really have never worked on TV's before.

Here's more;==>

Quote
I work on Industrial Electronics.I have never even opened a television.I have read a few books on TV repair..Old books...A Projection TV is Greek to me..

More;==>

Quote
For 15 of the 20 years I worked in Electronics,One of the products I supervised was the production of laser diameter gauges..

There's more , but , that would be overkill....
This guy signed up on Nov 23, 2009 , I helped him fix his TV , & now he thinks he's a TV expert...
The worst part about this is you bought it !!!!
There are several well qualified TV techs here , but Gus67 is NOT one of them...PERIOD !!!
Granted , Gus67 , IS a smart man , BUT he's also a smart ass that turns people off away from him...

Another "gem" from Gus67;==>

Quote
Sometimes I come across angry..it's a gift of mine, unfortunatly I also look angry in person as well, but I am really a fun guy..misunderstood both verbaly, visualy and in written form. You have to know me to understand. My wife always laughs at me when I get involved in these forums..she always asks..who did you p**s off now? It's always someone...everytime...

NUFF SAID ! ! !

It IS your right to choose who you accept help from....
It is ALSO my right to refuse to give advice to who I choose...
I gave you truthful info about Gus67...
If you don't accept it , fine , not my problem...You lose , I do not ....

Quote
Thanks for your advice as well Ron but that was not the proper way to give our your opinions, it was quite rude and inappropriate.

It was NOT "rude" & it WAS appropiate.!!!!...
What IS the "proper" way to give ones oppinion ???
It was/is honest & truthful... Take it OR leave it...

Your Call...

One last bit of advice about your TV;...
Replace C2465 10ufd 160volt exactly or a 10mfd @ 250 vdc....
A 22mfd "may" do the job initially , but "may" not be long lived...
Use the original type & value to be sure...
That makes 3 of us saying the same thing....

Finally;...
NOT mentioning anyones names here...BUT...
If you're going to have spagetti for brains , be sure you have enough sauce !!!

tAnK;.... Good Luck...

" If you're going to have spagetti for brains , be sure you have enough sauce !!! "

I registered just now only to ask this question.

Ron, What does that mean? I just want to understand the fun in it.

As for the discussions in this thread, it reflects the basic human nature, "I am smarter than you or don't want to bow the head". Anyway all of you are well experienced in this field and have different kind of approach to solve a problem. That is a good thing and I commend you all for spending your time helping others.

Nothing funny about that !!!
If you have ever eaten plain pasta , you "may" understand that...
Cooked plain pasta has very little taste...
You need a sauce to enjoy it...
In other words;...If you are going to make accusations , be sure you can back them up with fact !!!...Sorta...

Quote
I am smarter than you or don't want to bow the head".

This one pisses me off !!!...IF you read the thread , you'll see that I NEVER said that to ANYONE at ANYTIME !!!...
In fact , in my post just above yours , I said;=>

Quote
Granted , Gus67 , IS a smart man , BUT he's also a smart ass that turns people off away from him...

PLEASE notice "IS a smart man"....
I have NEVER asked for nor EVER will ask for a "bow of the head !!!!
It was Gus67's attitude after I finished helping him that all this started....
He turned on me like a serial killer after he raped a hooker...
IF you or anyone else expects me to lay down & take that crap from him OR anyone else , then you are flat outta your minds....

Now that all that is said & done......
Welcome to our little forum.....
Hope someday we can help you out....

Best Regards....

NO, I didn't mean you said that. I just pointed out a common personality clash developing between people in the work place or even in our own home.. Please don't construe anything in a negative way.

But this cracks me up.

".He turned on me like a serial killer after he raped a hooker.."

I couldn't stop laughing and almost spilled my drinks on the keyboard.

Yes, I read those posts. He came here for help and you helped him to solve his problem.

I actually enjoyed your post that coming from a person with lots of life experience in all aspects.

Good Luck....

Ron,
You are one angry person...

I have visions of you reading my posts, and having a total, all out fit...

Here is what I picture in my head.

An old man throwing stuff around his house...spitting in the fishtank, running out in the street, kicking puppies..making children cry....mean and angry things like that...

I loved the serial killer comment though...a good joke is always apreciated, even by the person it's meant to offend.
