Panasonic TV goes black and white Can't Post

My 3 yr old Panasonic TC-21S10M has just lost its colour and is now black and white. Interestingly the on-screen commands are still bright green and the TVAV default screen is still blue. Any thoughts?

Thanks Peter

Probably the jungle chip as the outputs seem OK. Being Panasonic it may have differing world settings so check what system you have and make sure the TV is showing that. If say you are on NTSC and someone selected PAL then you have a mono set.

Re: [rrobor] Panasonic TV goes black and white [In reply to] Can't Post

sorry to reopen this old one, but I think I've got the same problem.
My 4-year old Panasonic tx-24dx1 24inch widescreen CRT TV has gone blue-green as if there's no red colour coming through.
There wasn't any bang/fizzing noises it had just gone when I turned it on.
I took the back off and removed as much dust as possible, I gave all the connections a "wiggle" to make sure nothing was loose, and finally I gave the TV a good shake and a bang on the top.
Can anyone offer any advice as to what the problem is and whether its worth getting a TV repair man out?
I've no idea what a jungle chip is by the way...
Doing a search led me to this page where they tell you how to get to the service menu, so I'll try that tonight...

dont mess in the service menu for this problem it will end in tears. if you have lost red suddenly then something has gone faulty. it may be the jungle chip or more likely one of the ic's on the crt base pcb..is there red on text pages?

Re: [techchris] Panasonic TV goes black and white [In reply to] Can't Post

The service menu seemed to just be default screen positions etc...
I don't think there's any red on text, but I'll have to try it later.
Where you go into the picture settings to adjust the colour its supposed to be a red bar, but its now a black bar. I would therefore say there isn't any read on the text.
I've no soldering experience so I'm not planning to replace any parts myself, I just want to be armed with all the information if/when I go to a TV repair man.
If I know its only a small part that needs changing, I know I shouldn't be charged much.
I'm suprised there's no official searchable Panasonic database that lists common problems. They just seem to want to put you straight in touch with an authorised repair company.
When one of these little parts blows, theres no visible way of knowing is there? I.e they don't go black do they?
