Panasonic TX28DT30 & DMRE50 Recorder TV locking up

Help required.
I have a new TX28DT30 Panasonic TV with a built in digital tuner only few weeks old.
Just purchased a new DMRE50 DVD Recorder I have set the recorder up ok, but have the following problem.
When I set the timer on the TV to record digital Freeview channel it switches the recorder on ok and records the program, But after the recording has finnished the TV locks up and I cannot change any channels at all. The only way I can get the TV to unlock is to switch the TV off at the power point and back on again it then unlocks the channels and works ok.
If i set the timer to record two digital programs it records the first program ok but then locks up and won't record the second program, I then have switch the TV off at the power point and back on again to unlock the TV.
I can record ok with the video plus codes, but of course it is only recording the analogue signal on AV2.
The 21 pin scart lead is set to AV2 on the TV, and to the TV scart socket on the DVD Recorder.
Is this a TV problem or have I got the settings wrong someware.
Hope I have explained the problem ok.
