Philips 32HF7875 Hotel Locked HELP Can't Post

Hi

I have bought, very cheaply, a Philips 32HF7875 lcd tv from the hotel I work for and it is locked to hotel mode.

I can connect my sky box which works fine as by programming my sky remote to the tv model I was able to bring up an output menu and by selecting HDMi it allows the box to work fine in HD.

However, the tv itself is locked to stop access to menus so I cant lift the volume restrictions or access the settings menus at all, I also have to go into the output menu everytime I turn on the TV to get sky on.

I am familiar with the codes as I have downloaded the manual but it must be locked to higher security as the 3,1,9,7,5,3,mute code does not work so I thought it would be a case of getting the green RC2573 remote from work to sort it out.

It turns out they dont have a remote and they used to use a master tv to programme settings on all 100+ tv's and they had a company who accessed each tv through a smart card system to do technical stuff as well.

What I want to find out before spending money on the master remote, will the remote work if the tvs have been controlled through a master tv?? The system has been replaced now so its not like I can hook it up and ring the company.

The manual, which is specific to this model, shows the green remote as a method of changing settings but it mentions nothing about remote access from a master tv etc or whether the smart card system overrides access by the master remote.

I hope this makes some sense and any help will be greatly appreciated.

Regards.

sgeordien;...

The remote you are talking about IF it is model #RC2573GR Setup Remote it may/may not work...
That one does work for analog hotel/motel TVs from Philips/Magnavox...
I'm not sure that it would work on Philips/Magnavox LCD TVs...
Check & see if they give you a model number for the "green" remote for your TV...

IF the green remote has the same model number , you have a shot at this...
On the analog TVs , the settings ARE in the settings you mention...
The "smart card" system (I think) has to do with programing etc...
Your tint , color , brightness & pix controls , etc , are in the consumer mode & not in the commercial mode...
PLEASE post back with the info on the remote & we'll go from there...
THANKS....Sly....

Hi Ron

Thanks for your reply. This is a link to the tv and manual http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?hlt=Link_Overview&scy=NZ&slg=ENG&session=20120805204813_23.21.180.100&ctn=32HF7875/10

I think the smart card that allowed the hotel remote access is also for sending pay per view movies and allowing settings cloning to all connected tvs via the master. You'll see in the manual the green remote that is used to configure/unlock it. I've found one on eBay for £12 which I think I'll just buy and try, my gut feeling is that the smart card/ remote access won't affect how this remote works with the tv.

I was just hoping an expert like your good self could confirm before parting with some money lol. let me know what you think.

Many thanks

sgeordien;.....

Ignore the "Smart Card" ....

IF you have a HONEST , REPUTABLE , TRUSTWORTHY Authorized Magnavox/Philips TV service Center in your country nearby , you can try this...
Ask them if they will convert your TV over to Consumer mode...
The shops that I know of will do it for $10~20 USD & it takes about 10~15 minutes or less to do...
You have to bring the TV into their shop..
You will need a remote for the TV after you convert it...
I'd recommend you get the "RC2886" or equivalent.....
Did you get any remote with the TV when you bought it ???..

Using the "green remote" (This is for analog TVs) ....

Quote
The television is shipped in Commercial mode; however, at times it may be necessary to operate the set in Consumer mode. To switch between Commercial Mode and Consumer Mode the following sequence should be followed:
• With the RC2573GR Master setup remote enter 024995 and press the menu key.
• Use the Right cursor button to switch the Mode of the set between Consumer and
Commercial.
• With the proper mode selected, cursor down and use the Right cursor button to store
the selected mode.
•After the mode is stored, the television will power itself off. At this point disconnect
AC and perform a cold start on the television.
• The set should now be in the selected mode.

This is what the "green remote" brings up in the settings mode (Again , for analog TVs) ;=>...

For the purpose of explanation, a guest remote, for the L04 series, similar to the illustration, is used. Remote control RC2573GR is a special and optional remote control specifically for configuring Institutional TV / Business Display Solutions features and SmartCard settings, and is purchased separately. Refer to the documentation for the RC2573GR for detailed information.
When you press RECALL on the RC2573GR setup remote control, when it is in setup mode, information similar to the following will appear on the TV screen. This information describes the TV chassis firmware version, diagnostic codes, setup information, and other service and technical data regarding the television configuration.
Line #10 indicates whether the TV is in CONSUMER or COMMERCIAL mode,
and whether it is on-line with a SmartPort DCM (such as a CLON99BK SmartLoader).

Good Luck....Sly....
