Pioneer PDP-42MVE1 Plasma 42" Can't Post

Been given this tv from a friend, could you please tell me how I connect from my youview box to this tv? as it doesn't seem to have a normal aerial connection? what would be the best equipment to use and where to connect? from scart to whatever bit on tv or hdmi to whatever bit to tv? really just looking to buy whatever is best for connecting for the best possible picture. Just one last question why does this tv not have a normal tv aerial connection? as it was expensive in its day?

Do I need to buy a converter from hdmi signal to bnc for tv, I really don't have much knowledge of these type tv with no normal aerial socket, just seems to be a load of various type connections which you could use, but which is the best one to use? bnc rgb and others?

I purchased the exact model speakers for them the other day, got them cheap, and the work as I have had scart lead from youview box with the 3 wires I mentioned in earlier post, managed to get sound but no picture.....That explains why there's no normal aerial socket ha ha. I have read manual but still not as straightforward as it should be, it should really make it clear. This is the item you need for connecting from your tv box to this fcuking tv.... example you need a scart connection from tv box with 3 rca cables at other end and connect to component 1 on your tv...simples, but no....lets just have 40 pages of technical stuff and keep everything vague for the novice.

It shows a diagram with video signal in, and its just an rca plug, surely you don't get scart leads with 1 rca at other end, or hdmi with 1 rca at other end, surely the signal from scart or hdmi lead wouldn't just go into 1 rca socket on tv? This is getting seriously tedious now, feel like smashing tv but it has a good picture and sound but never together because the connections are not made simple enough for a novice Crazy

Either of your examples will work with the appropriate inputs.

Make sure separate audio connector wire is used and that audio Input is assigned to correct input - Pages 59 & 69.

You DO understand that this is a monitor for Professional use? Many more bells & whistles as compared to a bottom of the line consumer unit.

In the upper right corner of each of your posts you will see an 'EDIT' button - no need for multiple consecutive posts.

Thanks for your input, but pages 59 are in foreign languageWink Just curious as you seem to know which pages to look, would this be suitable for getting sound and vision from my youview box SCART TO BNC + 2 X PHONO PLGS . - SCART Plug - BNC Plug + Phono RCA Plug x 2

Cheers

Hello again just to let you know that lead I purchased was wrong again, thats the third lead I have purchase, and I know it's something to do with the correct lead. Just feel these manuals should make things simple for getting the correct thing in the first place.

Your youview box has a standard SCART output jack & HDMI jack - correct? What is boxes model number so I can try to find a manual?

You have enough adapters.

Quote
SCART TO BNC + 2 X PHONO PLGS . - SCART Plug - BNC Plug + Phono RCA Plug x 2

Is this one or two adapter cables?

SCART adapter:
Is The BNC plug is wired to be 'Video?'
Is The two Phono plugs wired to be left & right audio?

IF so, It WILL work!

Agree...This is the scart lead I purchased Black 1.5 m Multicore Screened Scart Plug to BNC and 2 x Phono Plugs. Now when I found a scart lead in my cupboard with the 3 rca connections at the end, this gave me sound but no picture, so can't understand why I don't at least get sound from this new lead,as it's basically the same apart from the video parts. Surely it can't have anything to do with the multi-core screened part of the lead I purchased.

youview talk talk Huawei model DN370T the scart lead is just one cable with 2 rca and one BNC, the 2 rca ends connected to the audio the bnc end connected to video input. Any advice would be greatly appreciated regarding the best lead to buy for this tv. If you think it would be better connecting through the hdmi rather than scart, I am really just looking for the best connection for the best possible picture, again if its better to connect to the component part of tv or another part, if you just give me the correct lead to buy that would be great.

Cheers Dave

First let's check a couple of settings. I assume you have the remote? (Probably couldn't hurt to go through the whole 'menu tree' and jot down any items that differ from DEFAULT. DON'T CHANGE ANY ITEMs OTHER THAN THE ITEMs I REQUEST at this time.)

1) Press the MENU/SET button on the remote control to display the MAIN MENU.
Press the cursor buttons UP / DOWN (arrows) on the remote control to highlight the menu you wish to enter. SOUND
Confirm AUDIO INPUT1 is set to VIDEO 1

Be sure “ADVANCED OSD” is set to “ON” in the main menu for the following.
2) Press the MENU/SET button on the remote control to display the MAIN MENU.
Press the cursor buttons UP / DOWN (arrows) on the remote control to highlight the menu you wish to enter. OPTION3
Confirm LOOP OUT is set to OFF
If either of the above is NOT where I want them, change them so they are.

Connect the BNC plug to 'VIDEO 1 (IN/OUT)'.
Connect the RCA plugs to 'AUDIO 1 L & R'.

Select Video 1 and you should have picture and sound.

Were you working off the menu tree on pages 12 & 13?

You are starting to confuse me when you go off on tangents.

We were talking about ONE particular cable. IF it is wired as you claim and plugged into the jacks I requested, with those two menu settings I mentioned in the positions I suggested, it should work.

Not sure what you mean, if your refering to the manual you mentioned the other day, on page 12 is operating instructions about remote. I have just following your previous instruction on this page regarding settings. Yes I agree it should work, but what I was trying to explain there must be something different about the scart lead with the bnc and 2 rca cables, if they were basically the same exept for the fact 1 has a bnc rather than rca for video, both scarts should have sound. Thanks for your input, would resetting the tv help to put it back to factory settings.

Just for you I switched to the multi-language manual you found.

Try this first.

bought an hdmi lead to 24 pin and connected into digital rgb on tv...Picture but no sound on pc3 dvi.....

I want you to hook HDMI wire up and select as above - You have picture. Now without unhooking that wire or changing your input take the SCART wire you described here:

Quote
I found a scart lead in cupboard with 3 rca connectors at end connected to the top part of tv into the red yellow white connections which matched the rca leads.....sound but no picture on video 1

but only use the RED & WHITE wires and plug them into the "AUDIO 3 L & R" jacks. Do NOT connect the YELLOW to anything.

Tried that previously picture no sound, I have just taken everything out youview box, put scart lead in back with the 3 rca connections red white yellow, put yellow in video 2 connection and red and white in audio 2 connection. I now get video playing on video 2 and the sound playing on component, when I was flicking through the different inputs. Thats the first time Ive noticed that, maybe something to do with they settings you asked me to set, but as it stands I have one cable which puts both on but different tv setting. Does this help in anyway?

AGAIN - you have read through the operators manual? (Sure doesn't seem, like it.)

D AUDIO1, AUDIO2, AUDIO3
These are audio input terminals.
The input is selectable. Set which video image to allot
them from the SOUND menu screen.

Assign Audio 2 to associate with Video 2.
Currently:
AUDIO INPUT2 = COMPNT1
Adjust it so it says:
AUDIO INPUT2 = VIDEO2

I have just solved problem with a good bit of fortune, just kept trying to work out why one scart worked but not the other. Even though the 24 pin to digital rgb was totally disconnected from youview box, still had the connector attached to tv, decided to remove from tv, this solved the problem, even though the other end was not connected to youview box, must have caused some sort of circuit fcuk up. Going to try that bnc cable now with the 2 rca plugs, and see if that works now. Cheers wouldn't have solved this without your input. Will let you know how I get on with all other leads. Just tried all other leads nothing, the scart with the 3 rca connections alway's gave the best potential, so happy with sound and vision, but will now really concentrate on the manual you highlighted now I know everything is working fine, just waiting on my macbook being upgraded before I can really study manual, would be impossible viewing from my iphone. Thanks again jts1957......without your input would more than likely given up on trying to get this thing working.

Cheers Dave
