Problem with my SAMSUNG DLP HL-R5087W

I have a SAMSUNG DLP 5087W DLP tv. The unit is 4 years old. Last week the device stopped displaying a picture. The power is on, the lamp is on, the fans appear to be running and the color wheel is spinning. Once the unit is on, I'm unable to turn it off. I'm also unable to perform other functions such as menu, change source, change channel, volume, etc. This is true when performing the functions from the pedestal and the remote control. I had a repair person in earlier in the week. He basically pulled the inners of the tv out, looked at the lamp, color wheel and fans. Said they all appeared to be fine and made a snap decision that it was the digital module. I asked him how he knew that. His response was, from experience. As you know, the DM is one of the most expensive parts to replace on the TV. I did not have it replaced because I did not feel comfortable with his diagnosis or technical knowledge. My question is, has anyone experienced a similar problem with this model television? If not, can anyone provide some advice regarding how I can determine if the DM is bad. I don't want to sink hundreds of dollars into a TV that cost me a couple grand. Any help would be most appreciated! One other thing. No error messages or symbols get displayed after the TV boots up. It appears to come up clean once it's powered on. It goes into standby mode after 3 minutes. I can power it back up from standby mode but as mentioned above, cannot power it off.
