RCA HD52W59 Fuse Locations Can't Post

I have an RCA HD52W59 rear projection TV. During a lightning storm, my home's power went out briefly, and now my tv will not turn on at all. It was plugged into a surge protector, and no other electronics were harmed. I know the outlets are working fine. My warranty has expired, so I took the back off and found what I believe is the power supply fuse (located where the power cord connects to the circuit board). It looks fine. Is there another fuse in my tv? I've read about an AC line fuse. Where is this located?

There are 3 small brown fuses all in a row next to the flyback, MAKE SURE SET IS UNPLUGGED then check them. They are small pico fuses that fit through the board, their values will be written on them (example 500ma). If you can't find fuses of the same style case any fuse of the same value will work as long as you can get them soldered in safely without the new fuse coming in contact with other components; I've often replaced these fuses with small glass fuses with pigtails -- Dan

Well heres the problem, the line fuse in a RCA is ceramic, It "looks" the same good or bad. So did you test it or just "look" at it

Thanks for the input. The fuse I found is a glass fuse. It doesn't look blown to me. I'll still have it tested.

I had the fuse tested and it is ok. It is a 6 Amp 125 VAC fuse. They don't have them at Radio Shack or my local hardware store. Any suggestions on where I could find replacements if I ever need them? Are there any other things I should check before messing with the 3 brown fuses near the flyback?

These sets are also bad for cold solder joints on the flyback transformer; this would require resoldering these points. You should find someone with an ohm meter or continuity test & check the 3 little brown fuses first. You can leave them in circuit to test them but UNPLUG THE SET FROM THE POWER FIRST! There will be some screws near the back edge of the plastic that the chassis is onon, once you remove these screws the entire chassis will slide out far enough to get at the legs of the fuses on the bottom of the circuit board. If you are not sure how to test fuses, find a friend that can. If you can find a blown fuse & change it yourself it will save you hundreds of dollars. I've worked for places that would have changed one of these fuses & charged the customer $200-$300 for 'High voltage Power Supply Components' Which technically that is what a fuse is but you can't tell a customer that it will cost $300 for a fuse -- Dan
