RCA TV keeps changing channels, won't stop Can't Post

I have a 24" RCA TV(not a flat screen) I bought in March of 2005. It was made in December of '04.
The TV had been working fine up until a month ago. I have the TV unplugged right now, because when I plug it in it will start the normal search for channels, but after it's done with that- it keeps changing channels (in sequence). I've let it go for as long as an hour, it just won't stop! And I can't use my remote or use the manual buttons, NOTHING!
I even tried a different outlet in the house, still nothing.
Before this started, the TV would turn on by itself in the middle of the night, or it would turn off by itself while I was watching it.
Can anyone help!! It's a fairly new TV. THANKS!!

take the batteries out the remote.if it still does it you either have a button stuck in on the tv or possibly if the channel up/down buttons are on the front ,cleaning fluid has run down into the switches and short circuited them.worse case is a faulty microprocessor chip which controls all functions

Thank you for responding.
I tried those options before posting this issue, didn't change anything.
And I don't use anything liquid to clean my TV.

It would help if you, INCLUDED A MODEL NUMBER ! And your question has been answered by Chris, stuck tact switch or bad microprocessor. Call a tech

Not sure if this is the same as I had. RCA TV I repaired had the Keyswitch ass'y at the top center of the TV. I had a channel up continuous problem. Replaced the channel up tact switch on that PCB, problem was solved. As a test I unplugged the connector after I powered the set up.

Sound like it could be a problem with the switches, One of the more common problems we find is custmers spray the crt with windex, then this runs down the front right to the switches, this is why it states in the owners manual (right next to the section that tells you not to leave staitonary sceens on the screen ) to spray the rag then wipe the screen. But with out a model number this is all a wild guess

hi there, your tv was probally shocked by interuptions in the power line. i have experienced this problem with asimilar unit. yuo might have to change the main cpu control ic. it's located on the mainboard ass'y. it has about 30 to 40 pins total. that should stop te unit from automatically changing channels.
