Sony KDL-46XBR6 partial dark screen	Can't Post

This TV's LCD screen has a dark vertical band in the centre, increasing gradually to normal brightness on either side (please see link to photo below). The band in the centre still shows the video; it's just not backlit.

I'm guessing the backlighting is the problem, and that the backlight components are an integral part of the screen (i.e., not individually replaceable), meaning the TV is toast.

Am I right about this? It's only later Sony TVs that came with LED backlighting that's replaceable independently of the screen, correct?

For the 'correct' model, tis CCFL back lights. You'll have to partially disassemble the panel to observe lamps. https://www.shopjimmy.com/sony/kdl-46xbr6

hello Aliac9000,
the issue you are facing can be sometimes due to BAD LVDS FFC Cable and it can be easily fixed just by using new cable. here is an image of what you need to check https://ravielectronics.in/...c-e1561576687742.jpg
