SEIKI SC402TT bricked by firmware update Can't Post

I did something really stupid updating the firmware on my SEIKI SC402TT with the wrong file.

After going through all the steps with Seiki's tech support ( service menu, power button, etc) they told me I have to take my TV to a repair shop since it is way over warranty deadline.

They said there is no way to roll back the firmware.

Now I guess my only option is to change the main board and see if I can save this tv. After removing the back cover I saw the main board but the TV also has video board on top.

Now I'm wondering if I will have to buy a new video board or if it is not affected by the firmware.

The tv works turns on of and everything else. It is just the colors that are completely messed up with lines and bleeding all over which makes all look a mess.

Any help will be REALLY appreciated !!!

WHAT was the problem BEFORE you tinkered with technology ???
I'd suggest you post a pix or a link to one of the problem so our fine techs here get a better idea of what exactly you have..

Hey Ron thanks for posting.

The TV had no problems at all. I updated the firmware because I like to keep things as current as possible.

The problem is that my TV serial number was out of range according to the firmware. And i did not noticed it before the update was done.

Ok here you guys can see a video showing how the TV turned out after the butchered firmware update.

Seiki never got back to me about a possible original firmware for a possible roll back. I called back today and I will keep trying.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have to mess with the EEPROM on the board . Either reprogram it or physically replacing it but without the schematics for the board it will be tough.

Anyways any help will be really appreciated.

Lincoln2015;...

I don't see ANY way that you are going to "reprogram it or by physically replacing" the EEPROM ! ! ! ...
Replacing EEPROMS in the older analog TVs were done by getting "PRE-PROGRAMED" EEPROMS usually from the manufacturer or distributors of cloned originals..

The video you posted is NOT clear ! ! ! ...
Is that from your camera OR from the TV(?)...
A CLEAR IN-FOCUS pix or video from a TV channel or other source would be better..
IMHO , that looks like a case of solarization...
Also , it looks like you are using the TV(?) as a Computer monitor...Correct ???

Since you also have a puddy tat , jts1957 may be willing to help you out...

Good Luck..

Get with the times. Then and now were read/writable. Only the size of the hardware seems to have changed.

Lincoln2015

Note IC type numbers listed in ebay ads. There will be one or more in the set. I presume EEPROM updates would go to one on the Main board.

Board number?

Re: [Ron.M] SEIKI SC402TT bricked by firmware update [In reply to] Can't Post

Thanks for the advice Ron.

About the video it is the way the TV looks not a problem with my camera. Thats how it turned out after the firmware flashed.

It seems it is working with a very restrict number of colors or something.

About the EEPROM I'm pretty sure I can get one from shopjimmy the problem is that I don't have the schematics for the board.

I will keep researching.

Thanks again.

And yep, I have 5 black cats and I love all of them !!! LOL !!!!

YES , I'M FULLY aware that they ARE read/writable...
Just that NOT everyone has the expertise OR the equipment to do so !!!..

Re: [Lincoln2015] SEIKI SC402TT bricked by firmware update [In reply to] Can't Post

Ok folks very good news!!

Got an e-mail from Seiki today with the correct firmware file. Flashed it and the TV is working flawlessly !!!

Thank God !!!

I don't think I can upload the file here but just in case if somebody needs it in the future I have the correct firmware to:

SEIKI SC402TT

serial number 4012M8221X000792

board number CV318-D 1204H0725H

Or you can call Seiki as I did and it may take a while but they will get back to you.

Thanks for the help folks !!!

I would love this firmware! I'm afraid I dorked up my Seiki the same way you did. You have a PM!
