Samsung HC-R4755W won't turn on Can't Post

Hello all. My 47" Samsung CRT TV broke at a very bad time; I'm having a Superbowl party this weekend. So here's the story of my misfortune:

About a year ago my wife and I noticed that the TV would take more than one press of the power button to actually turn on. Well, today my wife was watching TV and a half-hour into it, the picture got distorted (I wasn't there, so I can't say exactly) and then a half-hour after that, it turned a little green and then went black. These are her words, so sorry if it's not very clear (I don't think it is either Unsure). When I got home, I unplugged it for a few minutes, plugged it back in, and then asked my wife to tell me what it did. She said the red LED blinked 5 times and then went out. I confirmed this as well. There is only one LED on the front.

Does anyone know what code the blinking is? I called Samsung to find out, and they weren't helpful at all. They didn't know anything. They asked my what the TEMP light did. I told them I don't have a DLP. They then proceeded to tell me that I had contacted the wrong department, as they only deal with HDTVs. Mine is an HDTV.

So if someone knows what the code means and/or what the problem might be, please reply to this posting. Also, if anyone has a service manual and/or schematics for the Samsung HC-R4755W, let me know. Thanks.

It doesn't matter what the blinking status is. It is broke. I have never heard in my lifetime a 47 inch CRT so, I'm pretty sure, Yours is a DLP. Most DLP's around now since they were made in MEXICO only last 6 months to 1 year. Supposing you will have the schematics or service manual. How well you will diagnose the unit is uncertain with the related problem. There are too may DLP owners with same problems here and never once heard a true Professional advice except a guessing experienced tech wannabees... My best advice to all is: stop patronizing DLP's. Manufacturers will go on producing DLP's when you insist where they are making more money. So, unless You stop the problem. They stop! simple as that!

You just made me waste my time reading your non-helpful answer. And now I'm going to waste even more time writing a response.

My advice to you is to stop guessing at what I have. I don't care what you are pretty sure I have. I KNOW I HAVE A CRT. I know what I bought. If you don't know what a CRT looks like, I will post a picture of the THREE that are in my TV.

The next time you post a reply, research the product before posting. Being "pretty sure" doesn't cut it. It just makes you look like an idiot and an ass. Don't waste people's time with your non-helpful answers.

Its just a standard old rear projection and probably the convergence is fried, but it could be a multitude of other sins. Id get a spare in a hurry if I were you, this is unlikely to be fixed in time.

It doesn't matter If I had wasted your time mr coccaine but if you can't differentiate a difference between CRT and DLP just because they share same form. Then I would say: your wife is lying to you too. Perhaps he's having an affair with your neighbors when the tv broke. they've be banging in front of the tv while the remote control is under them while pounding.

Earlier you said: "you called SAMSUNG but you were proceeded in the wrong department as they only deal with HDTV's. while yours is HDTV". what kind is shit you were talking? and you insisted it's 47 CRT?

Like I keep saying, read what you wrote before posting cause I don't think you will get a good closure and be MAD about it when you are being reminded. if SAMSUNG doesn't recognize your claim. then who does? keep your story straight!!!!!!! keep on eye on your WIFE instead!

Thank you for replying. A guy I called at a local repair shop said off the top of his head he thinks the code means a convergence problem. If it's just the STKs that's fine, but if I have to replace the whole board I don't know if it's worth it.

By the way, by confirming that it's a CRT, you made denonjapan look like a bigger idiot. And his second post just confirmed how immature and non-helpful he is. He wrote "I have never heard in my lifetime a 47 inch CRT so, I'm pretty sure, Yours is a DLP." He must not be very old, I guess.

Mr. Japan, when you read this, learn how to quote better. You didn't quote me correctly in your second post.

Please dont get me involved in your arguement, that you are calling the projection tubes a CRT is your issue, most others would not, so the ice you skate is pretty thin. To argue with that guy is a waste of breath, he will outlast you and get more outragious each time, so please dont start.

To clarify, aren't those projection tubes technically CRTs? That's a serious question.

I had a projection CRT that had the STKs go bad. It turned on and showed picture and had sound but the blue was diverged. I replaced chips and it was fine. My question is this: if the Samsung has bad STKs, would that prevent it from displaying a picture, and produce a blink code? I'm just doubtful. Is there a way to test the STKs?

Thank you.

if the STK's are presenting a short circuit across the supply volt line then the microprocessor will shut the tv down.take the ic's off the board and see if the tv will power up.

These are the reasons I refused to go head to head with you guys. Cause it's like me teaching an OLD ASS back to ABC again. I don't normally used these words but I truly SORRY ( losers) for your incapacity of the matter. You are not in some kind of sewing with martha stewart show where you deal with PROBABILITY, testing STK's? hahhahahahahahaa SlySlySlyAll of inffuence by sister RRBOR who's dealing with spelling difficulty like always. My advice is FREE, You can choose to listen or you can be COCKY about it. One thing I know for sure you cannot and will not resolve that matter over other FOOLS advices. I can tell you what's wrong with your DLP, with my eyes closed but You are not ELIGIBLE to put your hands on it. if you have some good section left on your brain? Spend wisely or seek a Professional.

You really shouldn't write about others' spelling, when your spelling and grammar is severely lacking. Mr. Cruz, you should stop posting 'cause you bring no knowledge to this board. Thank you.

Please never post again until you learn better grammar. "People who knows" <-- example of bad English. That being said, I'm done with you. I came on this board to get knowledge, of which you have an abundance. <--(I just taught you some more correct grammar ).Wink You win with your vast knowledge. Go tell your boyfriend that you won. Maybe he'll give you some pleasure. Shocked Have a wonderful life in Chicago.

Thank you, techchris, for that suggestion. I hadn't thought of that. (Yes, Mr. Cruz, not everyone is as knowledgeable as you.) I will try that.

Re: [colker] Samsung HC-R4755W won't turn on [In reply to] Can't Post

The question as to the CRT is that CRT is a Cathode Ray Tube. So any thermionic tube could technically be called a CRT. So by your calling the first TV sets which had about 8 valves or tubes and a picture tube had 9 CRTs. The given technical reference for a CRT is a standard picture tube not a projection tube. That you argue with, the thing ,is your business, you will give up before he does, or you both will bore the rest of us with your pigheadedness.

So there's no confusion, let's call a projection tv ' A Projection TV!'

And let's call a tube TV or CRT TV, 'A Direct View TV'. Works for me!Wink

Denonjapan, are you a TV TECH? 'cause if you are, PLEASE, just give friendly advice and leave the other BS out of the paragraph! I myself will not pretend to know everything, but what I can contribute here, I hope will help. I'm a hobbyist tech for over 25 years, but don't like to give out a lot of technical stuff unless people request it. We're all here to help in anyway we can, and I would even appreciate your input as well. If you reply to this with a snotty attitude, I will not reply as it was not my intentions in any way to piss you off.Smile

If I post a problem here, I will read your input plus any ameteur or novice or hobbyist input, so i can asses everyone's opinions and get a clear understanding of what I'm dealing with. You know what they say: Always get a second opinion!

What sis magdalene is saying is: if a guy dress like a woman than you no longer a man. Technically, you are a woman. Ain't that right rob? My buddy brought a pepperoni flavored chips from mexico and offered me to taste it. Are you saying, I wasn't chips I just ate, cause you insisted it's a PIZZA techically? You wanna get technical with me?

I think I was around 8 years old when I fixed my first TV but they were all tubes. I didn't see hybrid equipment (half tube, half transistor) 'til I was about 13. tube equipment is my forte'. I hate, I mean really hate microchip stuff (repair wise) so I could probably learn something from you.
