Samsung Model LN52A550P3F Green vertical lines and screeching sound

When I start the tv I get vertical green lines and a screeching sound. I have to turn it off and anywhere from 2 to 5 times before it starts OK. I replaced the hdmi cable and the power cord but it still happens. Any help would be appreciated. The tv is about 10-12 years old I think.
