Samsung UN32F5500AF LCD LED TV no backlight Can't Post

need some help

tv powers on with sound and there is an image on screen but backlight led lights do not power on at all

took tv apart and do not see any noticeable burnt out leds on any of the strips...

bed leds seems to be a very common problem on this model tv.....symptoms were tv would power on and picture would come on then then go off randomly and got worse...not picture wont come on at all

i dont see any visually bad caps on the ps board

can someone help me?

in the past when dealing with bad leds i would see a visually burnt led.....

if they arent visually burnt or discolored does it mean they are probably good?

Disconnect each strip from the Power Supply/LED Driver board. Apply approximately 2.5 volts per LED to powered end of strip - be careful to observe polarity. Examples: a 6 LED strip would require approx. 15 volts ... a 9 LED strip would require approx. 22 volts ... a 13 LED strip would require approx. 32 volts. IF all is good, bulbs will light.

thank you

do you suggest buying a led backlight tester....they are about 32.00 and have outputs up to 300v....i assume they are auto adjust voltage

If you already have a variable power supply, why bother spending any extra money?

I do fine with my Sencores' 0 - 35 volt 1 Amp supply.

Don't forget, you can test a single LED with practically any two size 1.5 volt batteries wired in series.

Re: [jts1957] Samsung UN32F5500AF LCD LED TV no backlight [In reply to] Can't Post

hi thanks for you input.....i took my laptop 12v to 24v ps and put it on the 24v setting since i have 9 led lights per strip ..i tried 22v but lights were dim...when i put 24v volt to them they were bright

anyways ....i rigged up some leads on the ps end and then hoooked them up to each led strip.....i tested 5 led strips from the tv.....four of them were perfectly fine all leds working........but one of the strips none of the leds lit up.....is this normal?

i figured maybe 1 or 2 bad leds on the strip but the entire strip will not light up

i assume this is what could be causing the no backlight issue.....?

if so ...why cant they make the tv where if 1 or 2 or 3 leds go bad it will still light up but just not as bright?

prety sad that if 1 led goes out on a 100 led strip and that causes the whole thing not to work???

its like old school xmas lights lol...

and what would cause an entire led strip not to light up?

shouldnt the bad leds not light up and the good ones light up on the strip?

i saw a youtube video where a guy tested a strip and you could see 2 bad leds and the rest lit up fine

Depends on whether the bad LED(s) are shorted or open.
A DVM can test (and even light up) a single LED. You may have to pry off lens to get to LEDs terminals.

Re: [shelby5041] Samsung UN32F5500AF LCD LED TV no backlight [In reply to] Can't Post

update...i think i fixed the tv....i took a led strip from a diff model tv i had laying around and used wires and soldered to connector on broken samsung tv and now all backlights on tv work...

i guess u dont have to use original led strip....any strip will work as long as same type....

this is the 3rd led lcd tv that has has led lamp issues....ive never had an older lcd tv that uses cf tubes ever go bad....led is ok but has issues to work out...not very robust and high failure rate

Manufacturers setting the Back Light Intensity to 100% (for 'best' picture) doesn't help. Reduce yours immediately.

only problem is the led strip doesnt fit in tv...will have to rig it up and install on an angle or mount in back of tv as an ambient light.....lol.....it has a long wire so i have options.....as long as its hooked up tv will work

hey can i just not have a led strip in last spot or will that not work....i havent tried turning tv on with one less strip

Re: [jts1957] Samsung UN32F5500AF LCD LED TV no backlight [In reply to] Can't Post

yeah tv is trash now....from messing with it so much lifting panel out to get to the leds numerous times....the flat ribbon cable connections are no good...if i press on them i can get lines to go away but when i let go the lines arecback.....and its getting worse as i mess with it...

i will part out tv now....what a waste of time...i actually had it fixed too.....damn lcd panel fragile as hell....

the led strips are worth $$$$

there is no fixing the lines since its a lcd panel bonding connection issue now due to me not being careful enough...

oh well

Re: [shelby5041] Samsung UN32F5500AF LCD LED TV no backlight [In reply to] Can't Post

how much is the bonding machine

can i buy one?

i tried putting as piece of rubber on the connector but the way this tv is designed there is no way to put pressure on it....if i press my finger on the connector firmly i can get the lines to go away but now there are a couple more areas....the more i mess with and remove the lcd panel from its seating area the worse it gets.....
