Sanyo AVM-3680G buzzing noise

I have a 3 1/2 year-old Sanyo AVM-3680G 36" TV that recently started making a relatively loud buzzing or humming noise coming from the speakers. By relatively loud, I mean you can clearly hear it when the volume is muted or when the show that is on is not very loud.
The picture on the TV has not degraded since I started to hear the buzzing noise. Also, the noise does not change in volume by how loud I have the volume turned up, nor is it affected by which video input I'm using.
Any ideas what could be causing it? Is it something that can be repaired by a novice?
