Sanyo Plasma 50" DP50749 Turns On and Off

Hello everyone, first time poster here.
I have a Sanyo 50" Plasma DP50749.
I got it for Christmas from my wife in 2009.
On Thursday night I was watching that dreadful NBA Finals Game 6 and turned the TV off. Yesterday, my wife went to turn it on and the TV turns on (green light is on and it clicks on), then the image won't show on the screen for the first seconds looks like it's going to show something and then it looks like it's turned off other than the green light on.
A few seconds later, it turns itself off. Then on again. Then off...
The only thing plugged into it is the HDMI component for my Dish Network DVR.
After looking around the web, it seems like this is a somewhat common problem with Sanyo...just my luck.
I have the extended warranty from Walmart but I still wanted to get an idea on how bad this is.
